Penularannya melalui kontak langsung dari orang ke orang yaitu melalui droplet, pilek, air liur (oro-oro), tinja, cairan dari vesikel atau ekskreta. Penularan kontak tidak langsung melalui barang, handuk, baju, peralatan makanan, dan mainan yang terkontaminasi oleh sekresi itu. Tidak ada vektor tetapi ada pembawa (carrier) seperti lalat dan kecoa. Penyakit KTM ini mempunyai imunitas spesifik, namun anak dapat terkena KTM lagi oleh virus strain Enterovirus lainnya. Masa Inkubasi 2 - 5 hari.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;GAMBARAN KLINIK :&lt;br /&gt;Mula-mula demam tidak tinggi 2-3 hari, diikuti sakit leher (pharingitis), tidak ada nafsu makan, pilek, gejala seperti (flu) pada umumnya yang tak mematikan. Timbul vesikel yang kemudian pecah, ada 3-10 ulcus dumulut seperti sariawan ( lidah, gusi, pipi sebelah dalam ) terasa nyeri sehingga sukar untuk menelan.&lt;br /&gt;Bersamaan dengan itu timbul ruam atau lepuh kemerahan/blister yang kecil dan rata yang tidak gatal ditelapak tangan dan kaki.&lt;br /&gt;Kadang-kadang ruam ada dibokong. Penyakit ini membaik sendiri dalam 7-10 hari.&lt;br /&gt;Bila ada muntah, diare atau dehidrasi dan lemah atau komplikasi lain maka penderita tersebut harus dirawat. Deteksi Virus : dengan cara pemeriksaan anti kekebalan dalam tubuh&lt;br /&gt;2. Deteksi RNA&lt;br /&gt;3. It's caused by stroke-related damage in brain areas that integrate vision, attention and action, the researchers said.&lt;span class="fullpost"&gt;Patients with visual neglect lose awareness of objects in the opposite side of space compared to the site of the brain injury. For example, if the stroke is on the right side of the brain, patients lose awareness of visual information that's to their left. This occurs even though there's no damage to the brain area associated with sight, according to the study.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;"Visual neglect can be a very distressing condition for stroke patients. It has a big effect on their day-to-day lives," lead author Dr. David Soto, of Imperial College London, said in a school news release. "For example, in extreme cases, patients with visual neglect may eat only the food on their right side of their plate, or shave only half of their face, thus failing to react to certain objects in the environment."&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The study included three stroke survivors who'd lost awareness of half of their field of vision. They completed vision tasks in three settings: listening to their preferred music; listening to music they didn't like; and in silence.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;All the patients were better able to identify colored shapes and red lights in their depleted side of vision when they listened to music they liked, compared with music they didn't like or silence.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;According to the researchers, this suggests that positive emotions triggered by listening to pleasant music may result in more efficient signaling in the brain. In turn, this may improve the patient's awareness by giving the brain more resources to process stimuli.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The study was published March 23 in the journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;"Our results are very promising, although we would like to look at a much larger group of patients with visual neglect and with other neuropsychological impairments," Soto said. "Our findings suggest that we should think more carefully about the individual emotional factors in patients with visual neglect and in other neurological patients following a stroke," Soto said.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;"Music appears to improve awareness because of its positive emotional effect on the patient, so similar beneficial effects may also be gained by making the patient happy in other ways. "It's unusual to have a completely new section, but it is increasingly recognized that hospitalization for heart failure contributes substantially to morbidity and mortality and to health-care costs."&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;About 5.7 million Americans have heart failure, the progressive loss of ability to pump blood, and 1.1 million people are hospitalized because of it each year. Heart failure management will cost the U.S. health-care system more than $37 billion this year, the guidelines group estimated.&lt;br /&gt;Guidelines are assessed periodically to determine whether results of new trials or studies require changes, Jessup said. "We found that enough has happened for the guidelines to be changed," she said. "The most important studies were on hospitalized patients, so we felt there was a gap we had to fill." The guidelines are being published in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology and in the Heart Association journal Circulation.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The new guidelines "outline what has to happen in the initial evaluation, such as measurement of ejection fraction and whether the patient has coronary disease or not," Jessup said. "They describe what should be done each day to assess the patient and the need to think carefully about which drugs should be given and why."&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Drug assessment includes "the role of cardioactive drugs including nitroglycerine," Jessup said. "The guidelines also stress the role of evidence-based medicine and also what should be considered in the discharge of a patient from the hospital."&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Special consideration is given to blacks, she said, because "heart failure has a different etiology [cause] and tends to occur younger" in blacks than in others. The guidelines stress the use of two drugs, hydralazine and isosorbide dinitrate, in blacks. Both relieve pressure on the heart by relaxing blood vessels.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;"A trial showed that using them in a fixed-dose combination produced a remarkable reduction in mortality in African-Americans, and we really wanted to strengthen the recommendations that they should be used in African-Americans," Jessup said.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The drugs are effective, because heart failure in blacks has been shown to be more related to high blood pressure than it is in whites, she said. "Also, African-Americans with heart failure don't seem to have as much coronary disease," or blockage of the heart arteries, Jessup said.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;One revised section of the guidelines contains simplified advice on implantable cardioverter defibrillators, which can prevent sudden cardiac death by delivering a shock to restore normal heart rhythm when the heart suddenly beats irregularly. Various guidelines on the use of these devices have been issued, Jessup said, "and we are trying to simplify what we have said about them," Jessup said.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Also revised is the guideline section on treatment of people who have both heart failure and the arrhythmia called atrial fibrillation. There has been a debate about whether it is better to center treatment on relieving heart failure or on restoring normal heart rhythm, Jessup said. This isn't news, exactly, but looking around at the crazy information on the market, one wonders if anyone actually makes the connection: what you eat affects how you feel. It's that simple. Your health depends on the food choices you make in both the short and long term. &lt;span class="fullpost"&gt;Take a pill, and all you've done is treat a symptom. Change your eating habits, and create a lasting change in your well-being. There are so many approaches to eating, however, and so much conflicting information that it's come down to this simple question: does whatever you're eating right now make sense?&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Well, sense isn't common, and it does depend on some good information. So here is something to consider: what kind of foods are humans evolved to eat? Cheetos? Don't think so. That's a no-brainer, but what about some others that we counted as healthy staples until recently, like bread and pasta. Go way back in your imagination, to hunter gatherer days - before agriculture and the obesity which followed for the first time among humans - and consider what would be part of our ancestors' normal diet. If you're about to pop something into your mouth that wasn't around before agriculture, (a relatively recent development in human history), then eat it knowing it's not considered a 'normal' food by your body. Foods your body considers 'normal' contribute to your health, other foods are either neutral or harmful. How simple is that?&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;A well-known exploration of this concept that certain foods help our bodies thrive is Dr. Peter D'Adamo's book, "Eat Right 4 Your Type," in which he bases his lists of what to eat and avoid on blood type. D'Adamo asserts that type O is the oldest type, and the newer A type didn't show up on the scene until agriculture. So, Os should eat lots of meat and veg because that blood type doesn't know how to handle too much grain. Type As can eat grain, but not dairy. Dairy is a category reserved as a 'normal' food only for the yet more recent human blood type, AB. (Maybe we'll evolve a new type that can handle Cheetos and red licorice, my personal favorite abnormal foods).&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;D'Adamo supports his blood-type theory with all kinds of careful research, and so what? Does it make sense that humans should rely primarily on foods that occur naturally? Absolutely. If you're going to eat a grain like wheat then, eat it whole, or don't eat it at all, and don't eat much of it anyway because humans pretty much made wheat up! I'm not going to take the, "Does it occur naturally?" debate too far, because it's time to look at another researcher's take on the food and evolution connection.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Dr. Phillip Lipetz wrote "The Good Calorie Diet," a book for the weight loss market, but he also has supported his theories with all kinds of careful research. His describes how the human response to starvation that was developed during the ice age carries on today. Ironic, isn't it, that the food available to us today - rich and sweet and abundant - causes our bodies to behave as though starvation is at hand.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The short story for how this works is that up until the ice age, humans ate whatever was readily available, like roots, plants, fruit, and a little tasty carrion now and then. Along came the ice ages, and those foods became scarce. Now humans were forced to hunt, but it was dicey and the weapons were primitive, so spans of time occured between kills. The result: our ancestors evolved ways to make the most of the conversion of excess blood sugar into stored nutrition in the form of body fat. When they starved, they lived off stored fat.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Today's diet mimics the ice age diet: high fat and high protein, and our genetic programming says, "Uh oh, we're facing starvation again. Better store up some fat." Lipetz goes into convincing detail about food combinations in his book. He describes some that cause the creation of excess fat, such as butter on bread. More useful are his combinations that actually inhibit fat formation, like lean meat with most vegetables. In a society where obesity and its attendant health issues are rampant, these food combinations are helpful places to focus our attention. Yet the single most useful bit to remember from his research is that foods which cause our bodies to create excess fat all have one thing in common: they weren't part of our ancestors' normal diet.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Armed with this overview, next time you're about to pop something in your mouth - whether your focus is health or weight - you don't need to have a bunch of rules and whacky information in mind. Just use common sense. Ask whether it's a food that was around before the advent of agriculture. If it was, go for it. The report that they can cause stress cardiomyopathy might provide at least a partial solution to the riddle presented by the condition, said study senior author Dr. Ilan S. Wittstein, an assistant professor of medicine at Hopkins. &lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div align="justify"&gt;&lt;span class="fullpost"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Stress cardiomyopathy was first described in Japan in the early 1990s, and has been called Takotsubo cardiomyopathy. It is sometimes called "broken heart syndrome," since it can be precipitated by an intense physical or emotional event. &lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;span class="fullpost"&gt;&lt;div align="justify"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Its symptoms resemble those of a heart attack, including intense chest pain and shortness of breath, but the underlying physical cause is different -- not the death of heart muscle seen in a heart attack, but instead a temporary weakening of the heart. It generally is not fatal, but aggressive management usually is needed to get patients through a critical early period. &lt;/div&gt;&lt;div align="justify"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;"On an echocardiogram, you can actually see the walls of the heart not squeezing, a ballooning pattern of the heart muscle," Wittstein said. &lt;/div&gt;&lt;div align="justify"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;While epinephrine and dobutamine affect the heart, they can be used to treat non-cardiac conditions. One woman described in the report was given epinephrine for nausea while she underwent liposuction. Another patient was given a too-high dose of epinephrine intended to stop bleeding during a colonoscopy. &lt;/div&gt;&lt;div align="justify"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;"There have been previous reports of stress cardiomyopathy after dobutamine and a few case reports of heart muscle dysfunction after epinephrine," Wittstein sad. "We are the first to report a series of such cases." &lt;/div&gt;&lt;div align="justify"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;While an overdose can trigger the condition, "some of the patients received the right dose of the medicine and developed it anyway, so there may be susceptibility in some people," he said. "The issue is why some people get it and some don't." &lt;/div&gt;&lt;div align="justify"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;There are several messages to physicians in the report, Wittstein said. "One is that this is happening after routine procedures, so it is probably happening more than people are picking up now," he said. "So we need to recognize the clinical features of the syndrome, because it is likely more common than people know. &lt;/div&gt;&lt;div align="justify"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;"Another message is that we need to be careful about the dosage of these medications." &lt;/div&gt;&lt;div align="justify"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Yet stress cardiomyopathy was seen in some people who got normal doses of the drugs, Wittstein said. "It may even be genetic," he said. "There are people who are vulnerable, and we don't know who they are. It is important to figure out who those people are." &lt;/div&gt;&lt;div align="justify"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;More light is shed by a report in the March 26 issue of the American Journal of Cardiology by physicians at The Miriam Hospital, which is associated with the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University in Providence, R.I. &lt;/div&gt;&lt;div align="justify"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;A group led by Dr. Richard Regnante, an interventional cardiology fellow, has created a registry of 70 cases of stress cardiomyopathy, the largest to date. Two-thirds of them had experienced a physical or psychological stressful event, such as an auto accident or bad news about a family member. The best of these studies, done at Emory University in conjunction with the Centers for Disease Control, indicates that people with gingivitis and periodontal disease have a mortality rate that is 23% to 46% higher than those who don't. Keeping your gums clean and healthy may help reduce the risk of many illnesses, including heart disease.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Gum Disease&lt;br /&gt;Gum disease or periodontal disease, a chronic inflammation and infection of the gums and surrounding tissue, is the major cause of about 70 percent of adult tooth loss, affecting three out of four persons at some point in their life. Red swollen and bleeding gums characterize gum disease in the initial stages and progresses to infections, chronic inflammation and bone loss in later stages. Eventually bacteria are allowed to flow freely through your gums and into your blood stream that activates and stresses the immune system.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Heart Attack&lt;br /&gt;Research shows that people with gum disease are 25% more likely to have a heart attack. Bacteria originating from the gums to the veins and arteries cause plaque build up and arterial inflammation that can provoke jeopardous clotting. A 12-year study conducted by Harvard University researchers and 41,000 healthy men free of cardiovascular disease showed that those with periodontal disease had more clot related strokes.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Diabetes&lt;br /&gt;Periodontal disease severely affects the control of blood sugars. The spread of bacteria through out the body through the blood stream stresses and confuses the body when trying to adjust sugars to the invasion. Antibiotic treatment has help diabetics control blood sugars while treating the infections caused by gum disease.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Lung Infections&lt;br /&gt;Breathing in oral bacteria caused by gum disease can cause lung infections. (G, Charpenteir; et al)1&lt;/em&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span class="fullpost"&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Tujuan &lt;/strong&gt;: Membandingkan efek glimepiride dalam kombinasi dengan metformin dibandingkan monoterapi glimepiride atau emtformin.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Metoda &lt;/strong&gt;: Studi multisenter ini bersifat acak, tersamar ganda, grup paralel. (G, Umpierrez; et al)2&lt;/em&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Tujuan&lt;/strong&gt; : Membandingkan efek penambahan terapi glimepiride atau pioglitazone pada pasien DM tipe 2 yang gula darahnya tidak terkontrol dengan monoterapi metformin.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Metoda &lt;/strong&gt;: Studi multicenter, acak,  grup paralel, open label. Pasien DM tipe 2 dewasa yang gula darahnya tidak terkontrol dengan monoterapi metformin (A1C : 7,5 – 10 %) dikelompokkan secara acak untuk mendapat terapi :&lt;br /&gt;•Metformin + Glimepiride&lt;br /&gt;•Metformin + Pioglitazone &lt;br /&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Hasil &lt;/strong&gt;: n=203.&lt;br /&gt;-Kedua kelompok terapi mencapai penurunan kadar gula darah yang serupa dan bermakna secara statistik dibandingkan data dasar (pada minggu ke-26); (untuk kadar gula darah puasa p&lt;0,05; A1C p=0,0001)&lt;br /&gt;-Terapi glimepiride menghasilkan penurunan kadar A1C yang lebih cepat pada minggu ke-6, -12, dan ke-20 dibandingkan pioglitazone (p&lt;0,05)&lt;br /&gt;-Waktu rerata mencapai kadar A1C ≤ 7% lebih cepat pada kelompok yang mendapat glimepiride (80 - 90 hari vs 140 – 150 hari; p=0,024)&lt;br /&gt;-Kadar kolesterol total dan LDL secara bermakna lebih tinggi pada kelompok pioglitazone (p&lt;0,05).&lt;br /&gt;-Terapi glimepiride berhubungan dengan peningkatan risiko hipoglikemia; sedangkan pioglitazone berhubungan dengan efek samping edema perifer.&lt;br /&gt;-Biaya terapi glimepiride lebih ringan dibandingkan pioglitazone.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Kesimpulan&lt;/strong&gt; : Pada pasien DM tipe 2 yang tidak terkontrol dengan monoterapi metformin, penambahan glimepiride atau pioglitazone sama-sama menghasilkan perbaikan kontrol gula darah yang bermakna. Dibanding pioglitazone, glimepiride menghasilkan kontrol gula darah yang lebih cepat, kadar kolesterol total dan LDL yang lebih rendah, dan biaya terapi yang lebih murah.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;3.&lt;strong&gt;Studi&lt;/strong&gt; : &lt;em&gt;Efficacy and safety of glimepiride plus metformin in a single presentation, as combined therapy, in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus and secondary failure to glibenclamide, as monotherapy (M, Gonzàlez-Ortiz; et al)3&lt;/em&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Tujuan&lt;/strong&gt; : Menilai efektifitas dan kemanan glimepiride + metformin dalam suatu preparat tunggal, sebagai terapi kombinasi, pada pasien DM tipe 2 dengan kegagalan sekunder glibenclamide.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Metoda &lt;/strong&gt;: Studi multisenter ini bersifat acak, tersamar ganda. Kriteria pasien : Pasien DM tipe 2 yang mendapat terapi glibenclamide dosis maksimal dengan kadar gula darah puasa &gt; 140 mg/dL dan A1C &gt;8%. Pasien dikelompokkan secara acak mendapat :&lt;br /&gt;•Glimepiride dosis titrasi hingga 4 mg&lt;br /&gt;•Metformin dosis titrasi hingga 2.000 mg&lt;br /&gt;•Glimepiride 4 mg + metformin 2.000 mg sediaan tunggal.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Hasil&lt;/strong&gt; : n=104 pasien.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Kesimpulan&lt;/strong&gt; : Penggunaan kombinasi glimepiride + metformin dalam sediaan tunggal selama 3 bulan terlihat efektif dan aman pada paisen DM tipe 2 yang mengalami kegagalan sekunder glibenclamide&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;4.&lt;strong&gt;Studi&lt;/strong&gt; : &lt;em&gt;Comparison of the Efficacy and Safety of Glimepiride/Metformin Fixed Combination Versus Free Combination in Patients with Type 2 Diabetes.(Seung-Hwan, Lee; et al)4&lt;/em&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Tujuan &lt;/strong&gt;: membandingkan efektifitas dan kemanan terapi kombinasi glimepiride + metformin dalam sediaan tunggal dengan sediaan terpisah.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Metoda &lt;/strong&gt;: Pasien yang telah didiagnosa DM tipe 2 minimal 6 bulan yang lalu dikelompokkan secara acak untuk mendapat terapi :&lt;br /&gt;•Metformin + glimepiride sediaan tunggal&lt;br /&gt;•Metformin + glimepiride sediaan terpisah&lt;br /&gt;Terapi diberikan secara titrasi tiap 2 minggu, selama 16 minggu.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Hasil&lt;/strong&gt; : n=213 pasien.&lt;br /&gt;Terdapat penurunan kadar A1C sebesar 1,09% dan 1,08% pada kelompok sediaan tunggal dan sediaan terpisah. Jika si Ayah suka nempilkan wajal sebal, si bayi konon mengamati dan ikut-ikutan menampilkan wajah sebal juga.&lt;span class="fullpost"&gt;Jika si Ayah suka cemburu, eh si bayi juga konon begitu juga.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Usia 0 - 3 Bulan &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Hubungan emosional bayi dengan ibunya sudah ada sejak dalam kandungan, demikian kata sebagian pakar. Bayi bisa tahu bila ibunya dalam keadaan stres atau tenang. Jika ibu stres, biasanya bayi ikut rewel, cengeng, dsb.). Jika ibunya tenang, bayi pun tenang. Jika saat ini ibu stres akibat kecemburuan ayah terhadap bayi (yang ditunjukkan lewat perbuatan atau kata-kata yang negatif), otomatis, bayi pun bisa merasakannya dan ikut-ikutan stres.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Sebagian pakar lain mengatakan bahwa hubungan bayi dengan orangtuanya mulai terjalin saat ayah ibunya memberinya minum, menggendong, mendekap, dan menenteramkannya. Kualitas hubungan bayi dengan ayah ibunya di masa ini akan mempengaruhi proses perkembangan keterampilan sosialnya nanti. Jika kecemburuan ayah sampai memperburuk kualitas hubungannya dengan bayi, dikhawatirkan buruk pula proses perkembangan keterampilan sosial si kecil nantinya.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Saat berusia 3 bulan, bayi mulai berminat berinteraksi sosial lewat tatap muka, terutama wajah kedua orangtuanya. Ia akan belajar banyak hal lewat pengamatan dan peniruan bagaimana 'membaca' dan mengungkap emosi. Inilah tahap untuk secara aktif mulai melatih emosi bayi. Apa jadinya bila ayah sering menampilkan wajah sebal atau malah membuang muka setiap kali bayi menatapnya? Maka bayi akan mengamatinya, membacanya, dan ikut-ikutan sering menampilkan wajah sebal.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Usia 6 - 8 Bulan&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Di usia ini bayi mulai menemukan cara baru untuk mengungkapkan perasaan hatinya, semisal sedih, gembira, takut, marah, dsb. kepada sekelilingnya. Jika sebelumnya ia hanya mampu memikirkan benda atau manusia yang ditatapnya saat itu, sekarang ia sudah bisa memindahkan perhatiannya sambil tetap mengingat objek/manusia tanpa harus menatapnya lagi. Kalau ia senang dengan bola merahnya, ia akan memandang orang tuanya atau orang lain sambil menyampaikan rasa senangnya (lewat senyum, ocehan, atau gelak tawa). Inilah dasar kemampuan untuk bermain dan berinteraksi secara emosional nantinya. Jika bayi lebih banyak merasa sedih/takut pada ayahnya yang galak atau ketus dibakar cemburu, ia akan selalu menatap sekelilingnya dengan ekspresi begitu pula. Mengenaskan, ya!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Usia 9 - 12 Bulan&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Di rentang usia ini, bayi mulai memahami bahwa manusia dapat membagi gagasan dan emosi mereka satu sama lain. Bila ayah atau ibu bertanya kepada bayi, "Dedek lagi kesal, ya?", bayi dapat memahami bahwa orangtuanya ternyata bisa membaca atau mengetahui suasana hatinya. Dengan kata lain bayi mulai memahami bahwa dengan menunjukkan ekspresi tertentu, ia atau orang lain dapat berbagi emosi.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Jika ayah yang cemburu keapda bayi selalu menunjukkan ekspresi negatif (acuh tak acuh, sebal, kesal, dsb.), bayi pun mengetahui suasana hati ayahnya sedang tak bersahabat. Dan jika bayi selalu menjumpai ayahnya dalam keadaan seperti ini, ia pun cenderung menghindar dari sang ayah. Dengan begini, bayi akan kekurangan kasih sayang ayah. Karena seringkali terjadi, disadari atau tidak kalau kesal anda akan menumpahkan kekesalan dengan menceritakannya pada teman yang lain. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Kadang ajang ngerumpi menjelekkan teman bisa berbalik ‘senjata makan tuan’. Teman yang anda ajak curhat bisa saja menceritakannya pada teman yang lain atau bahkan kepada teman yang bersangkutan. Bahkan parahnya informasi tersebut akan menyebar kemana-mana. Kalau sudah begini, anda bisa dicap 'penyebar gosip'. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Peristiwa itu dapat menyebabkan permusuhan atau konflik antar karyawan. Suasananya bisa semakin panas karena karyawan ‘saling ngomporin’. Lebih jauh, situasi seperti ini bisa berakibat pada sikap saling menjatuhkan di lingkungan kerja. So, be careful. Ingat, sekalipun kesal anda tetap harus 'menyeleksi' setiap ucapan yang akan anda lontarkan. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Daripada anda menyampaikannya pada orang lain tentang kejelekan rekan yang membuat anda sebal, lebih baik bicarakan langsung secara baik-baik pada yang bersangkutan. Sampaikan bahwa anda keberatan dengan sikapnya. Kalau bisa beri dia masukan tentang sikapnya selama ini. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Dengan demikian anda bukan hanya bisa 'mengkritik' tetapi juga memberi kontribusi berharga padanya. Sampaikan dengan santai sekaligus santun. Sehingga walau dikritik, ia tidak akan membenci anda tetapi justru sebaliknya ia akan respek dan segan terhadap anda. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Asal tahu saja, mencari musuh itu jauh lebih mudah daripada mencari teman. Mereka selalu mengeluh setiap kali ada kesempatan. Keluhannya biasanya : tentang pekerjaan yang menumpuk, boss yang menyebalkan, fasilitas yang kurang , dll. Semakin kita sering mengeluh maka semakin buruk pula kinerja kita. AKHIRNYA :  membuka peluang pada buruknya  penilaian terhadap kita.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;2.MENYELESAIKAN PEKERJAAN SEKEDARNYA&lt;br /&gt;Orang yang tidak membutuhkan tantangan, selalu menyelesaikan pekerjaannya seadanya. Tidak pernah berusaha lebih baik lagi selama bos tidak menegurnya. Orang tsb biasanya tidak mempunyai motivasi  untuk menjadi yang terbaik. Kalau sudah begini tidak salah apabila orang tsb kariernya “ mentok “&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;3.MENOLAK TUGAS BARU&lt;br /&gt;Tugas baru identik dengan tantangan baru. Apabila orang sering menolak tugas baru artinya orang tsb tidak mau maju. Sehingga jangan heran apabila orang tsb tidak termasuk dalam daftar orang yang dipromosi.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;4.MENJAUHI ATASAN&lt;br /&gt;Hormat pada atasan wajib hukumnya. Tetapi menjauhi atasan untuk menghindari tugas sama saja dengan menjauhi promosi.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;5.SERING MENGHILANG&lt;br /&gt;Sering menghilang dari kantor bukan karena tugas akan membuat kredibilitas orang tsb hancur. Oleh karena itu apabila mau meninggalkan kantor harus memberitahukan ke atasan.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;6.KURANG GAUL&lt;br /&gt;Rajin dan focus pada pekerjaan memang bagus, tetapi jangan sampai tidak care sama lingkungan. Punya keahlian tetapi nggak punya kemampuan gaul percuma, karena orang tsb akan selalu merasa asing jika berkumpul dengan orang lain. Dalam studi tersamar ganda, placebo-kontrol dari sebanyak 62 pasangan ibu dan bayinya, menunjukkan bahwa pemberian probiotik pada ibu hamil dan menyusui meningkatkan potensi imunoprotekrsi dari ASI-nya, yangdinilai ari TGF-B2 dalam ASI (2885 pg/mL 95%CI, 1624-4146) pada ibu yang mendapat probiotik vs 1340 pg/mL 95%CI, 978-1702) dari ibu yang mendapat placebo. Risiko terjadinya eksim atopik selama 2 tahun pertama kehidupannya pada bayi yang ibunya mendapat probiotik bermakna terjadi penurunan dibandingkan dengan bayi yang ibunya mendapat placebo (masing-masing 15% vs 47%; dengan risiko relative 0,32 (95%CI, 0,12 – 0,85);p=0,0098. Atopi pada ibunya sudah jelas merupakan factor risiko eksim terhadap bayinya. Sebagian besar bayi memdapatkan manfaat dari suplementasi probiotik ibunya yang ditunjukkan dengan peningkatan kadar IgE dalam darah tali pusatnya. Pemberian probiotik selama kehamilan dan menyusui merupakan cara yang aman dan efektif untuk meingkatkan potensi imunoproteksi dengan menyusui dan melindungi terhadap eksim atopik dalam 2 tahun pertama kehidupannya. (J allergy Clin Immunol 2002;109:119-21).&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Ada hal yang kuat yang diturunkan dalam perkembangan penyakit atopik, dan adanya penyakit atopik pada ibu khususnya menunjukkan risiko untuk bayinya, walaupun, faktor genetik tidak dapat menerangkan peningkatan prevalensi penyakit atopik di Negara berkembang. Pendekatan baru untuk pencegahan sangat diperlukan untuk mengembalikan kecenderungan ini. Dari tindakan pencegahan yang telah dilakukan penelitian sebelumnya, hanya tindakan menyusui yang direkomendasikan yang kemungkinan bermanfaat.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Sebagai tambahan, nutrisi yang optimal untuk pertumbuhan dan perkembangan, menyusui akan memberikan perlindungan imunitas selama masa kritis ketika kekebalan bayi belum matang. TGF-B merupakan kunci imunoregulator untuk meningkatkan produksi antibodi IgA. Selama awal masa kelahiran, ketika produksi endogen TGF-B masih rendah, komponen susu ibu merupakan kompoenen yang penting yang berasal dari luar. Studi terbaru menunjukkan bahwa kadar TGF-B dalam kolustrum berhubungan dengan kemampuan bayi untuk memproduksi IgA untuk melawan antigen dan mencegah terjadinya penyakit atopik selama masa menyusui ekslusif. Potensi pencegahan dari ASI mungkin bisa diterangkan dengan adanya perbedaan komposisi ASI.&lt;br /&gt;Probiotik, mikroba hidup dari komponen makanan yang bermanfaat terhadap kesehatan, menunjukkan mampu untuk mengontrol radang akibat alergi dan menghilangkan gejala-gejala akibat eksema atopik, alergi makanan, sebagian dengan meningkatkan produksi TGF-B. Kami melakukan penelitian tentang potensi imunoprotektif ASI dapat ditingkatkan dengan pemberian probiotik pada wanita hamil dan menyusui dengan atau tanpa penyakit atopik.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Subyek dan Metoda&lt;br /&gt;Studi ini merupakan studi tersamar ganda, plasebo-kontrol untuk mengevaluasi potensi probiotik dalam mencegah alergi. Secara umum sebanyak 159 wanita hamil yang mempunyai riwayat keluarga atopik diacak dan selanjutnya mendapat L. rhamnosus ATCC53103 2x1010CFU sekali sehari atau plasebo selama 4 minggu sebelum persalinan (rata-rata 28 hari; 95%CI 24 -31) dan selama menyusui. Sebanyak 62 wanita dan bayi yang memenuhi kriteria inklusi menggunakan probiotik dan menyusui atau plasebo sampai anak berusia 3 bulan.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Pemeriksaan kadar total IgE serum darah tali pusat diukur dengan ELISA, sedangkan kadar TGF-B1 dan TGF-B2 diukur dari ASI yang dikumpulkan pada saat bayi berusia 3 bulan. Riwayat klinis bayi dan status dinilai sesuai dengan jadwal kunjungan pada usia 3,6,12,18, dan 24 bulan. Penilaian penyakit atopik pada ibunya berdasarkan dari adanya riwayat penyakit atopik, alergi, rinokonjungtivitis dan asma.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Eksim atopik ditegakkan jika ada gejala gatal, bentuk dan penyebaran yang khas, dan kekambuhan. Riwayat atopik dalam keluarga dimasukkan dalam kriteria inklusi. Kriteria kronisitas untuk eksim atopik jika mendapat 3 atau lebih periode serangan eksim (masing-2 periode minimal 1 bulan) selama 2 tahun pertama kehidupannya. Eksema masuk sementara jika ada 1 – 2 episode, alergi susu sapi dikonfirmasikan dengan uji pemberian susu sapi tersamar ganda, plasebo–kontrol, jika timbul gejala, tanda klinis, dan “prick test” kulit maka kemungkinan alergi susu sapi.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Data ditampilkan berdasar rata-rata dengan 95%CI, dan Student t-test digunakan untuk membandingkan nilai 2 kelompok data distribusi normal. Data dengan distribusi tidak normal ditampilkan dengan median dan range interkuartil, perbandingan kedua kelompok dengan Mann-Withney U test. X2 digunakan untuk membandingkan proporsi dua kelompok.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Hasil&lt;br /&gt;Bayi yang dilahirkan oleh ibu yang mendapat probiotik dan lahir dari ibu yang mendapat plasebo sama dalam cara melahirkan. Kadar TGF-B2 dari ibu yang mendapat probiotik lebih tinggi (2885 pg/ mL 95%CI, 1624 -1461) daripada yang mendapat palsebo (1340 pg/mL 95% CI, 978 – 1702) p =0,018. Kadar TGF-B1 masing-masing adalah 226 ng/mL (95%CI, 118-335) dan 178 ng/mL (95%Ci, 122-233; p=0,41). Pada subgrup yang mempunyai kadar IgE darah talipusatnya ≥ 0,5 kU/L), konsentrasi TGF-B2 pada ASI dari ibu yang mendapat probiotik adalah 5085 pg/mL (95% CI, 1818-8352 pg/ mL), dibading dengan 1136 pg/mL (95%CI, 532-1740 pg/mL) pada ibu yang mendapat plasebo, p=0,021.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Dari tindaklanjut klinis, data diambil 57 dari 62 anak (92%) sampai usia 2 tahun. Secara umum, 35 anak (61%) muncul eksema selama 2 tahun pertama, 17 (30%) dari 57 bersifat transien dan 18 (32%) dari 57 atopik eksim kronik dengan kekambuhan, 22 (39%) sehat. Risiko eksim atopik kronik dengan kekambuhan meningkat pada ibu dengan penyakit atopik (16 dari 38 – 42%) daripada ibu yang sehat, risiko relatif 4,0 95%CI, 1,0 – 15,6. p=0,016. Pemberian probiotik pada ibu berhubungan dengan penurunan prevalensi eksim atopik dibadingkan dengan plasebo, 4(15%) dari 27 bayi dari ibu yang mendapat probiotik terjadi eksim atopik kronik kekambuhan dengan 14(47%) dari 30 bayi dari ibu yang mendapat plasebo terjadi eksim atopik kronik dengan kekambuhan. Risiko relatif 0,32 95%CI, 0,12 – 0,85, p=0,0098. Kecenderungan yang sama juga terlihat pada bayi yang dilahirkan dari ibu atopik dengan bayi yang dilahirkan ibu yang tidak atopik, secara umum 4 dari 16 (25%) bayi dari ibu atopik yang mendapat probiotik mendapat eksema atopik kronik, dibandingkan dengan 12 (55%) dari 22 bayi dari ibu atopik yang mendapat plasebo (risiko relatif 0,46 95%CI, 0,18 – 1,16. p=0,069) dan tidak satupun dari 11 bayi ibu non-atopik yang mendapat probiotik mendapat eksema atopik kronik. Tidak ada ”adverse event” ataupun efek samping klinis yang terjadi selama suplementasi probiotik atau follow up.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Diskusi&lt;br /&gt;Probiotik disini menunjukkan perlindungan bayi dari eksema atopik jika diberikan kepada ibunya sebelum kelahiran dan selama masa menyusui. Bayi dengan peningkatan IgE dalam darah tali pusatnya, menyiratkan sensitisasi atopik di dalam rahim, menunjukkan manfaat preparat ini sepertihalnya probiotik meingkatkan TGF-B2 dalam ASI.Ini mendukung bahwa probiotik menujukkan efeknya pada mekanisme imunologi awal yang mempengaruhi perkembangan penyakit atopik, dan ini menekankan adanya interaksi yang kompleks antara predisposisi genetik, sensitisasi awal dan faktor imunoprotektif dalam perkembangan penyakit atopik.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Adanya ketidakseimbangan respon imun Th2 janin, dan tipe respon imun ini merupakan hal yang sangat penting dalam perkembangan penyakit atopik. Selama periode pasca kelahiran terjadi penurunan respon Th2 seiring dengan peningkatan usia pada anak non-atopik dan dengan pola kebalikannya pada anak yang atopik. Namun, peningkatan serum IgE pada awal kehidupannya gagal menunjukkan hubungan dengan status atopik anak pada masa depannya, dan prediksi nilai IgE dari darah tali pusat merupakan hal yang kecil yang dipertimbangkan. Dalam studi ini, pemberian probiotik meskipun melindungi terhadap eksim atopik, tidak mempunyai efek pada hubungan obyektif dari penyakit atopik tradisional. Apalagi, test ilmiah telah membuktikan keampuhannya.&lt;span class="fullpost"&gt;Terapi air dibuktikan sukses oleh pengobatan Jepang untuk penyakit lama dan moderen serius. Semua orang bisa terkena infeksi toxoplasma. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;span class="fullpost"&gt;Yang menjadi sumber infeksi toxoplasma antara lain:&lt;br /&gt;- Tinja/ kotoran kucing&lt;br /&gt;- Hewan potong yang terinfeksi&lt;br /&gt;- Ibu yang terinfeksi pada saat hamil&lt;br /&gt;- Organ/ donor yang terinfeksi&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Seseorang dapat terinfeksi toxoplasma melalui:&lt;br /&gt;- Makan sayur/ buah-buahan yang terkontaminasi tinja kucing yang terinfeksi&lt;br /&gt;- Makan daging mentah atau kurang matang&lt;br /&gt;- Kontaminasi pada mata atau mulut&lt;br /&gt;- Penularan dari ibu ke janin&lt;br /&gt;- Transplantasi organ&lt;br /&gt;- Transfusi darah&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Bila mengenai orang dewasa dan anak-anak yang system kekebalannya berfungsi baik biasanya tidak berbahaya. Bagi Janin, BERBAHAYA, bila ibu yang sedang hamil mengalami infeksi primer (infeksi yang pertama kali sepanjang hidupnya) atau seseorang yang mengalami gangguan system kekebalan tubuh.&lt;br /&gt;Bila ibu hamil terinfeksi toxoplasma, janinnya tidak selalu ikut terinfeksi. Semakin tua usia kehamilan saat ibu pertama kali terinfeksi, semakin besar kemungkinan janin tertular. Semakin muda usia kehamilan saat ibu terinfeksi primer, semakin parah akibat yang timbul pada janin. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Pada umumnya infeksi ini tidak bergejala, kalaupun ada gejalanya tidak khas/ spesifik sehingga dokter maupun yang bersangkutan seringkali tidak menyadarinya. Cara lain untuk mendiagnosis infeksi toxoplasma adalah dengan pemeriksaan laboratorium. Untuk pertama kali yang perlu diperiksa adalah antibody IgG dan IgM Toxoplasma. Tulisan mereka telah diterbitkan, dan bahkan temuan ini mereka masukkan dalam pelatihan CPR dan ACLS. Metode yang disebut 'Cough CPR' ('CPR lewat Batuk') ini terbukti dapat dan berhasil dilakukan, dan seorang ahli penyakit jantung mengakuinya.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Bayangkan bahwa Anda sedang dalam perjalanan pulang ke rumah (seorang diri, tentu saja). Saat itu pukul 6.15 sore. Anda betul-betul penat, jengkel dan frustasi setelah seharian bekerja berat. Tiba-tiba dada Anda terasa amat sakit, dan rasa sakitnya kemudian menjalar ke lengan dan terasa sampai ke bagian rahang. Rumah sakit terdekat dari rumah jaraknya hanya lima mil.&lt;br /&gt;Sayangnya, Anda tidak tahu apakah Anda bisa melanjutkan perjalanan sejauh itu. Apa yang harus Anda lakukan? Anda sudah pernah berlatih melakukan resusitasi jantung (CPR), tetapi sayangnya sang pelatih tidak mengajarkan cara melakukannya pada diri Anda sendiri.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Orang yang terkena serangan jantung pada umumnya sedang sendirian saat serangan tersebut datang, dan kami kira metode dalam artikel ini bias diterapkan. Jika tidak segera mendapatkan pertolongan, orang yang jantungnya berdetak tidak beraturan dan mulai tidak kehilangan kesadaran hanya mempunyai waktu 10 detik sebelum tidak sadarkan diri.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Tetapi, mereka bisa menolong diri sendiri dengan batuk berulang-ulang dan dengan sekuat tenaga. Sebelumnya, mereka harus menarik napas dalam-dalam, dan batuk yang dikeluarkan pun harus sekeras dan sepanjang mungkin, seperti kalau kita akan membuang dahak yang menyumbat di dada kita. Menarik napas dalam lalu batuk sekuatnya ini harus diulang terus-menerus tanpa henti setiap 2 detik sampai bantuan tiba atau sampai detak jantung terasa normal kembali. (hati2 turun bero... hehehe..)&lt;br /&gt;Dengan menarik napas dalam-dalam, oksigen akan masuk ke dalam paru-paru, sedangkan gerakan dada akibat batuk akan menekan jantung dan membuat darah tetap bersirkulasi. Tekanan pada jantung juga akan membuat organ tersebut kembali berdenyut dengan normal. Perusahaan kosmetik terbesar di Jepang, menerima keluhan dari pelanggan yang mengatakan bahwa ia telah membeli kotak sabun (terbuat dari bahan kertas) kosong.&lt;br /&gt;Dengan segera pimpinan perusahaan menceritakan masalah tersebut ke bagian pengepakan yang bertugas untuk memindahkan semua kotak sabun yang telah dipak ke departemen pengiriman. Karena suatu alasan, ada satu kotak sabun yang terluput dan mencapai bagian pengepakan dalam keadaan kosong. Tim manajemen meminta para teknisi untuk memecahkan masalah tersebut.&lt;br /&gt;Dengan segera, para teknisi bekerja keras untuk membuat sebuah mesin sinar X dengan monitor resolusi tinggi yang dioperasikan oleh dua orang untuk melihat semua kotak sabun yang melewati sinar tersebut dan memastikan bahwa kotak tersebut tidak kosong. Tak diragukan lagi, mereka bekerja keras dan cepat tetapi biaya yang dikeluarkan pun tidak sedikit.&lt;br /&gt;Tetapi saat seorang karyawan di sebuah perusahaan kecil dihadapkan pada permasalahan yang sama, ia tidak berpikir tentang hal-hal yang rumit, tetapi ia muncul dengan solusi yang berbeda. Ia membeli sebuah kipas angin listrik untuk industri yang memiliki tenaga cukup besar dan mengarahkannya ke garis pengepakan. Ia menyalakan kipas angin tersebut, dan setiap ada kotak sabun yang melewati kipas angin tersebut, kipas tersebut meniup kotak sabun yang kosong keluar dari jalur pengepakan, karena kotak sabun terbuat dari bahan kertas yang ringan.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div align="justify"&gt; &lt;/div&gt;&lt;div align="justify"&gt;2. Pada saat NASA mulai mengirimkan astronot ke luar angkasa, mereka menemukan bahwa pulpen mereka tidak bisa berfungsi di gravitasi nol, karena tinta pulpen tersebut tidak dapat mengalir ke mata pena. Untuk memecahkan masalah tersebut, mereka menghabiskan waktu satu dekade dan 12 juta dolar.&lt;br /&gt;Mereka mengembangkan sebuah pulpen yang dapat berfungsi pada keadaan-keadaan seperti gravitasi nol, terbalik, dalam air, dalam berbagai permukaan termasuk kristal dan dalam derajat temperatur mulai dari di bawah&lt;br /&gt;titik beku sampai lebih dari 300 derajat Celcius.&lt;br /&gt;Dan apakah yang dilakukan para orang Rusia ?. Mereka menggunakan pensil!.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div align="justify"&gt;3. Suatu hari, pemilik apartemen menerima komplain dari pelanggannya. Para pelanggan mulai merasa waktu tunggu mereka di pintu lift terasa lama seiring bertambahnya penghuni di apartemen itu. Dia (pemilik) mengundang sejumlah pakar untuk men-solve.&lt;br /&gt;Satu pakar menyarankan agar menambah jumlah lift. Tentu, dengan bertambahnya lift, waktu tunggu jadi berkurang. Pakar lain meminta pemilik untuk mengganti lift yang lebih cepat, dengan asumsi, semakin cepat orang terlayani. Kedua saran tadi tentu memerlukan biaya yang tidak sedikit. Tetapi, satu pakar lain hanya menyarankan satu hal, "Inti dari komplain pelanggan anda adalah mereka merasa lama menunggu". Pakar tadi hanya menyarankan untuk menginvestasikan kaca cermin di depan lift, agar pelanggan teralihkan perhatiannya dari pekerjaan "menunggu" dan merasa "tidak menunggu lift".&lt;br /&gt;-----&lt;br /&gt;&lt;em&gt;Maknanya, KISS (Keep It Simple Stupid), yaitu selalu mencari solusi yang sederhana, sehingga orang bodoh sekalipun dapat melakukannya. Cobalah menyusun solusi yang paling sederhana dan memungkinkan untuk memecahkan masalah yang ada. It should not have a spiral staircase. And I hate stucco, so it shouldn't have that." What are the chances you'd get shown houses you wanted?Sound silly? Lots of people set goals that way. "I want my wife to stop telling me what to do." When she stops nagging and starts talking about divorce, he keeps complaining. He achieved his goal, but it isn't what he wanted.With goals that are vague or poorly thought out, it's easy to work hard to achieve an outcome that you dislike once you get it. Or you might succeed, but not notice that you did. Plenty of workaholics have that problem.Societies make these mistakes too. Traffic jams make cars slower than the trolleys they replaced. Citizens overthrow oppressive governments, only to install worse ones. Automation reduces toil but throws millions out of work.On the other hand, some people and groups do a great job of wanting things worth having, and getting what they want in ways that really work. This isn't magic. These people are doing something different that helps them succeed. You too can learn to set goals in ways that work.What are goals?A goal is simply an end result you want or choose to work toward. Some people distinguish between primary goals (what you want) and secondary goals (things you must do to create what you want).Goals are most powerful when you love them passionately and they align with your values. Aligning your life, goals, actions, and values is one of the most powerful things you can do to achieve what you want.Goal-setting is often a process of discovery. You may not know what you want. You may need to discover or create it, and you might change your mind along the way. Many people discover their deepest values late in life.Effective goal-settingTwo methods of goal-setting work exceptionally well to help people get what they want and avoid problems. Holistic Management is a way of making better decisions that helps people achieve what they want more effectively. Neuro-Linguistic Programming is a way for people to become highly effective in any context. From their separate roots in land management and personal growth, both discovered some of the same key aspects of effectiveness:**Work toward goals, not away from problems. **Monitor and correct course. Look for early-warning signs that you're off-course, and correct immediately. If what you do doesn't work, do something else. **Think holistically. How does each action or change work in context and over time?&lt;br /&gt;Particularly in the area of goal-setting, the NLP and HM approaches complement each other. They are fairly different in how they work and what they're intended to achieve. While NLP assumes multiple goals or objectives, HM sets one holistic goal or vision. HM also separates what you want from how you achieve it. NLP has them dance, each influencing the other until both the goal and the process of achieving it work as a whole.NLP goal-settingThis process was developed by studying people who were good at setting and achieving goals, and who were happy with the outcomes they got. It works for outcomes of any size.You may find it helpful to have another person walk you through the process. Explaining the details of your goal to them will uncover any parts that are vague, undefined, or problematic.What do you want?**State what you do want, not what you don't. If you don't want X, what do you want instead? **Be specific. The better you understand how your goal will look, sound, and feel, the more likely you will make it exactly what you want, and the more resources your unconscious mind can muster to help you achieve it. **Where, when, and with whom do you want your goal? It may be appropriate for some contexts, but not others. Mentally rehearse it to find out. **What larger outcome is this part of? How does it fit into who you are and your major beliefs and values? **What time-frames are involved? **If you achieve your goal, what will that do for you? And what will having that do for you? Ask these questions several times to uncover what you really value. You might find there are better ways to get what you want than the one you had in mind.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;How will you know when you achieve your goal?**Be specific — what will you see, hear, and feel? What will you be doing, and what will others notice about you? **How will you know you're moving toward your goal? What is a small but significant sign you're making progress? Sometimes people achieve a lot without noticing. **How often will you check your progress? **Is there more than one way to get what you want?&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Is your goal achievable?If someone else has done it, then in theory you can do it too. If you are the first, find out if it is possible. This may require doing it! Many important advances were considered "impossible" until someone achieved them, so other people's limits may not fit what you want to do. If your goal is impossible, you may be able to achieve the value of it in another way. If the goal seems overwhelming, break it into smaller steps that seem doable.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Is achieving your goal within your control?**Make sure your goal reflects things you can directly affect. **If your goal involves other people, make sure it's about what you can do. You might want your bosses to act friendlier, but you don't control their behavior, feelings, or attitudes — they do. Since you do control yourself, you might (a) change your behavior in ways likely to encourage the bosses to behave the way you want, (b) change your attitude so their behavior bothers you less, (c) find a different job, or even (d) find a way to restructure the company so nobody is boss. **What stops you from having what you want now?&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Are the costs and consequences of achieving your goal acceptable?**How will achieving your goal affect other areas of your life? Other people? Society and the environment? **Will the results be worth the time, resources, and effort involved? **What might be the benefits of not achieving your goal? **How can you incorporate the good things about the present into your goal? **Watch a mental movie of yourself achieving your goal. What do you notice from this outside perspective? Step into the experience as if it was happening right now — how is this different? Notice who will be affected when you achieve your goal, then experience your success from their point of view. What new information does that give you? Gandhi used this technique to prepare for negotiations — it helped him consider everyone's concerns and welfare. **If you could achieve your goal now, would you take it? If not, revise it until it's what you want.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Do you have all the resources you need to achieve your goal?**What resources do you already have to help you reach your goal? Resources include skills and training, information, attitude, internal emotional state, money, help or support from others, etc. **What resources do you need, and how can you acquire them? **What would have to be different for you to have your goal? Be specific. **Do you want your goal enough to achieve it? If not, what would need to change for you to have that level of motivation? **Is the first step to achieving your goal specific and achievable? **What are you already doing to begin or achieve your goal? **Imagine stepping into the future and having your goal fully. Look back and determine what steps were required to achieve the outcome now that you have it.&lt;br /&gt;By checking your goal carefully, by experiencing it from multiple points of view and from several points in time, you get extra information to help you plan and proceed. You can catch and solve potential problems in your imagination, where it's fast and free. And by rehearsing the future so vividly, you help yourself create the results you want.Holistic Management goal-settingHM is a way of making decisions that are sound financially, socially, and environmentally. Goal-setting is just one step of a larger process that helps people think through what they do, keep on course, and achieve the results they want.While NLP goal-setting works on goals of every size, in Holistic Management, you set one goal for each whole. A whole might be a company, company division, ranch, family, or individual. Or it might be a community, watershed, region, nation, or even international. It includes the key stakeholders and decision-makers, plus the resources they have available. Wholes can contain other wholes that have their own separate goals — an individual in a company or a farm in a region, for instance.A blueprint for what you wantA holistic goal is a long-term, overall blueprint for what you want to create. It has three parts:**Quality of life. State what is important to you. What do you value? Do you want security? Adventure? Good relationships with your family and community? **Production. What do you need to produce to create and maintain the quality of life you want? Building good relationships with your family and community might require effective communication. Security might require a reliable income. **Resource base. What will sustain production and your quality of life far into the future, and for future generations? Include your community, landscape, and resources (education, money, good reputation). Keeping your neighbors around might require economic viability and a healthy landscape that will help your community endure.&lt;br /&gt;What, not howA holistic goal includes only what people want, not how to get it.**The best way to get what you want may change with time. **You may have to experiment before you find a way that works. **People argue far more over how to achieve goals than what those goals should be.&lt;br /&gt;People in conflict almost always want similar things. Ranchers and environmentalists both want healthy, beautiful landscapes and sound economies that let them make good livings for their families. Palestinians and Jews both want peaceful communities to raise their children.By leaving how out of the goal, people can concentrate on what they all want. Very often that's the key to resolving long-standing conflicts and finding a way forward that satisfies everybody.Committing to the goalThe goal will work to the extent that the participants buy into it. This means that**All the decision-makers need to participate in setting the goal. If the janitors make decisions that affect your company, they need to be part of the planning process. **Keep adjusting the goal until it matches what everyone wants, and people buy into it and consider it theirs. This typically takes several years. As trust grows, people discover more about what they truly want and value. **Readjust the goal as people's needs, enthusiasms, and priorities change.&lt;br /&gt;Getting people to work together and set a goal is sometimes a long, arduous process, especially if they begin as enemies. It's tempting to shortchange this step, or try to impose a goal from the top. Don't do it! The people work that gets done at the beginning builds the foundation of understanding and trust needed for success. These resources for dealing with conflict can make trust-building easier.If you absolutely can't get agreement about a goal, you or a group within the whole can set a temporary goal to work toward. Make sure you include as much as you can of the values and goals of the people who aren't participating yet. Then get those folks on board as soon as possible. Tony Tipton says, "I like having my 'enemies' in the planning group, because I learn the most from them and their concerns."Testing actions and resultsOnce you form the goal, use it to test whether a particular action will take you toward or away from the results you want. For instance, a new job might pay better, but decrease your family's quality of life.Sometimes I find it helpful to ignore my good intentions, and simply compare my behaviors and outcomes with my goals and values. Focusing on tangible outcomes helps me bypass any internal propaganda and make an accurate reality check. If I find incongruence, I adjust my behavior, values, or goal.When people align their goals, values, and actions, amazing synergies often occur. Alignment often takes two or three years. At that point, people gain incredible energy and effectiveness, and move toward or achieve their goals very rapidly.Setting goals holistically ensures that they are socially, financially, and ecologically sound, and that today's decision won't cause future harm.Combining HM and NLP goal-settingHolistic Management's strengths are its inclusiveness and a planning horizon broad enough to include people, money, land, and future generations. You use your holistic goal to test plans and evaluate results. "Will this proposed action take us toward our long-term vision, or away from it? Did the actions we already took work, or not?"NLP's strengths are the extra information you get from checking and experiencing your goal from many different perspectives, and the process for test-driving your goal and the path that takes you there. You can fine-tune what you want and how to get it before you begin.By using the NLP process to test-drive and improve your holistic goal, you can get the best of both worlds.
